Phoenix Racquets Merch | WTT Tennis Team

The Phoenix Racquets were a key competitor in the final stretch of the original World Team Tennis (WTT) league, bringing high-energy professional tennis to Arizona from 1975 to 1978. Competing at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum, the franchise attracted massive star power and instant credibility by signing absolute legends of the game, including world No. 1 Jimmy Connors and the fierce Billie Jean King. The Racquets were a formidable contender in the league's Western Division, consistently drawing enthusiastic crowds with WTT’s revolutionary co-ed format, fast-paced no-ad scoring, and colorful courts. Despite cementing a dedicated fan base and putting on a spectacular show throughout their four-season run, the franchise ultimately came to an end when the entire league collapsed following the 1978 season.
