Pittsburgh Triangles Merch | WTT Tennis Team
The Pittsburgh Triantles were a charter franchise of the original World Team Tennis (WTT) league, competing out of the iconic Civic Arena from 1974 to 1976. Best remembered for their striking bright yellow and green uniforms, the Triangles reached the absolute pinnacle of the league in 1975 when they captured the WTT Championship by defeating the San Francisco Golden Gaters in an exhilarating three-match final series. Coached by Vic Edwards, that dominant 1975 championship squad boasted a regular-season record of 36–8 and featured an elite, star-studded roster anchored by legendary multi-time Grand Slam champion Evonne Goolagong and charismatic young phenom Vitas Gerulaitis. Named after the city's famous downtown "Golden Triangle," the franchise successfully brought fast-paced, high-energy professional team tennis to western Pennsylvania before folding at the end of 1976, leaving behind a brief but golden legacy in vintage tennis history.
