New Jersey Gems were a female pro basketball franchise which participated in the Women's Professional Basketball League (WBL) and played their home games at both Thomas Dunn Sport Center (1978-80) in Elizabeth, New Jersey and South Mountain Arena (1980-81) located in West Orange. The Gems played in all three WBL seasons, making them just one of three teams to go the distance and accomplish the feat. The team finished a respectable 23-13 record in their final season and qualified for the playoffs.​
