The San Diego Conquistadors were a professional basketball team in the American Basketball Association (ABA) from 1972 to 1975. They were the ABA's first expansion team and were founded by dentist Dr. Leonard Bloom for a $1 million entry fee. The team played their home games at San Diego State University Peterson Gymnasium. The franchise was eventually sold to new ownership in 1975, and renamed the San Diego Sails.
