The Dayton Rockettes were a professional women's basketball team based in Dayton, Ohio, competing in the inaugural season of the Women's Professional Basketball League (WBL) in 1978–79. One of eight founding franchises in the WBL, the first pro women's basketball league in the United States, the Rockettes played home games at Hara Arena. The team was owned by Lou Deitelbaum, who ceased financing the franchise midseason, leading to the league to taking over operations in February 1979. Efforts to relocate the franchise were unsuccessful, and the Rockettes folded after a trying 12-22 season. Led by coach Linda Mann, notable players included Vonnie Tomich, Denise Craig, and Vivian Greene, all of whom were selected for the 1979 WBL All-Star Game.
