The Los Angeles Strings were one of the most glamorous and celebrated franchises of the original World Team Tennis (WTT) league, capturing the Hollywood spotlight during their runs from 1974 to 1978 and later in the 1980s revival. Owned by high-profile businessman Jerry Buss, the team brought showmanship to the court at the iconic Kia Forum, complete with celebrity attendees, cheerleaders, and a festive, high-energy atmosphere that predated Buss's famous "Showtime" Lakers era. The Strings were a competitive powerhouse, anchored by tennis legend Chris Evert and bolstered by stars like Ilie Năstase and player-coach Frew McMillan. Their crowning achievement came in the final season of the original league in 1978, when they captured the WTT Championship by defeating the Boston Lobsters.
