The Chicago Mustangs played in the North American Soccer League (NASL) during the initial season of 1968. The Mustangs, who only lasted for one season in the NASL, had come from the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL), who merged with the United Socascer Association (USA) to form the NASL. The Mustangs failed to qualify for the playoffs during the 1968 NASL Season, drawing only 2,500 fans per home game at Comiskey Park. Shortly after the season, the team folded and became yet another casualty of the NASL.
