The Boston Beacons were a charter member of the North American Soccer League (NASL) in 1968, entering the new league with 19 other teams who also had high expectations. The largest attendance for a game at Fenway Park during the 1968 season was against Brazilian team Santos FC, who was led by international star Pele. After their initial 1968 season, the Beacons flickering light was permanently extinguished as they folded due to financial difficulties. We hardly knew ye!
