The Washington Caps participated in the American Basketball Association (ABA) for just the 1969-70 season, their star player being F Rick Barry. The team played their home games at the Washington Coliseum and even played in neutral locations such as Wichita, Kansas and Mexico City. The Caps were the second act of a team that initiated play as the Oakland Oaks in 1967. The franchise's turmoil ridden bumpy ride—from California to Washington, D.C. and finally to Virginia—was marred by financial instability, geographic challenges and internal conflict. Good times...
