The Baltimore Claws were a short-lived professional basketball team in the American Basketball Association (ABA) during the 1975–76 season. They were a rebranding of the Memphis Sounds franchise, which had previously been known as the Memphis Pros, Memphis Tams, and Memphis Sounds. Despite efforts to improve the team's roster, including acquiring star player Center Dan Issel from the Kentucky Colonels, the Claws experienced financial hardship. They failed to meet the ABA's required $500,000 performance bond, leading to the league expelling the team just five days before the start of the regular season, resulting in the franchise folding on October 20, 1975.
