The Baltimore Comets were a professional soccer team which participated briefly in the North American Soccer League (NASL). The team first appeared on the NASL horizon in 1974 and lasted for only two seasons, which were plagued by mediocre play and financial unrest. During the 1975 season, they were evicted from Memorial Stadium for not paying rent and played the remainder of the season at Burdick Field on the Towson State University campus. Following the 1975 season, the Comets were sold and moved to San Diego, where they would rebranded as the Jaws, and would eventually become the Sockers.
