The New York Stars were a professional women’s basketball team in the WBL from 1978 to 1980. The Stars played at the Mulcahy Center in New Rochelle for their inaugural season and Madison Square Garden for their championship 1979-80 season. Despite their on-court achievements, the Stars faced financial challenges, requesting two years of inactivity after the 1980 season due to fiscal issues, with the WBL subsequenbtly folding after the 1980-81 season.
