The Dallas Diamonds were a professional women’s basketball team that competed in the WBL from 1979 to 1981. Starting off as an expansion team, they faced early challenges, finishing last in their debut season. However, with new ownership and the addition of star player Nancy Lieberman, they moved to SMU’s Moody Coliseum in 1980-81 and achieved a league best 27-9 record, showcasing the potential of women’s professional basketball.
