The New Orleans Buccaneers were a charter franchise of the American Basketball Association (ABA), operating from 1967-70 and playing their home games at Loyola Field House. The Bucs played an influential role in the ABA's early seasons by fielding a competitive team, contributing to the growth of the league. In 1970, the ownership sold the franchise to P.L. Blake, who moved the team to Memphis, Tennessee. From a historic perspective, the franchise was a predecessor to the expansion NBA New Orleans Jazz.
